FAQs

Do you work exclusively with first responders?

No, I work with everyone! Being a first responder brings many unique financial challenges that many people might not understand. I talk a lot about first responders and government employees because I want my fellow civil servants to know there's a financial planner who's walked a mile in their shoes. But I don't want you to feel unwelcome if you come from a different background.

How do you get compensated?

This is one of the most important questions to ask a financial planner. The only compensation I get is from hourly fees, fixed rates, and retainers. I do not manage portfolios, so I don't have any assets under management charges or commissions. Additionally, I do not sell any products or have any side deals with anyone who does, so I don't have any financial incentive to push you into a specific product.

How frequently will we talk?

That depends on your needs and the services I am providing. If I am helping you create a budget or creating a debt-reduction strategy, we may be speaking once or twice a month. If you are using me primarily for retirement planning, we would likely speak less frequently than that. Regardless of your needs, I am always available for quick questions as they arise.

Are you a fiduciary?

Yes! If you are unfamiliar with that term, a fiduciary is a financial professional who is required to always act in the best interest of the client. Because I have a Series 65 license, I am required by law to be a fiduciary. Additionally, I have sworn to two Code of Ethics that require the same. You will always come first. So rest assured that my one and only concern is your well-being.

Do you offer free consultations?

Yes, we have free consultations. During our consultations, you can tell me what your needs are and I'll let you know what working together would look like. If I don't think you'll benefit from my services, I'll let you know and try to direct you to someone who can help you. If you're ready, send me a message and we can get the consultation scheduled soon!

What should I expect?

We'll start with a conversation about you: what your dreams and goals are, what you value, and what services you're looking for. From there we'll figure out your current financial position to develop a sustainable plan to get you where you want to be. Each session will end with an action plan that gives you specific steps to follow until our next session. I may check in with you between sessions to make sure you're still on track. We'll repeat that pattern until all your issues are addressed.
